Letters to Jessica

Hey Jessica!

Oh my God...just finished reading this morning, I haven't read a book this fast in a while.  I'm shocked and amazed. Ok I have a lot to say on this.

This is definitely your best book ever.  The imagery is fantastic, incredible, your best.  I've been waiting for this kind of book for a while, and I couldn't find any that really had what I was looking for.  I guess it's because I could relate to it on a very personal level.  For starters the dream scene just got to me, I don't know why, it just really wow.  (I'm someone who has a lot of dreams and deja-vus) And then the painting too, (especially as an artist myself), I just saw a lot of magic in that.  And then I find out the story is around aliens!! I mean I've been after this type of thing for so long (ever since I read The Outsider from Delinsky), and never found exactly what I was looking for, everything being so damn sci-fi!

I have to ask you if you've heard star seeds? It's kind of a spiritual concept about some of us having "alien" souls.  It's actually something believed by alot of people, including myself. The there's the twin thing, and thats actually a soulmate "type" called twin flames, one soul divided in two, which you described extremely well, (As someone who has personally had emotional experiences relating to soulmates).  So yeah, completely touched me on a personal level, extremely excited to have read something like this.   Amazing, wonderful.  Thank you so much for sending it to me, it's officially one of my favorite books ever :D

Hi, D!

Thank you so much for your wonderful note and the wonderful read.  You are the first person beside my editor and agent who have read this, and I am so glad that you feel positively!  I really appreciate your kind words.

I was pretty surprised myself when I realized that my characters were "aliens."  It just sort of evolved as I wrote about Mila's feeling of disconnect.  I've always loved speculative film (not as much novels or fiction), and certainly those ideas influenced me.

I haven't heard of the book you mention, but I will look into it--and what I've found with most stories is that we all seem to have the same ideas swirling around us.  It never surprises me when similarities occur!

Again, thanks for your comments.

Best,

Jessica
