What They Found at the Lake

Column

In their late 60s and early 70s, longtime friends Brenda, Pepper, and Millie walk twice a week near Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Washington. A true support system and now women of a certain certain age, they've handled issues and upsets with their children, deaths of partners, failing health in spouses.

On this particular Tuesday, they discover a murdered woman floating near the shore. Though the murder case is run by the charismatic Detective Jorge Moreno (who seems to develop a thing for Millie's adult--and recently returned home--son Marco), the three women set off on their own to investigate who murdered Josie, the victim.

As they put themselves into increasingly dangerous situations with a local right-wing group, they manage to figure out their own life mysteries, including those of a romantic nature. But when the murderer gets ever closer, how do they (and their loved ones) escape the story unharmed?
