Dear Friend,

Erotic … paranormal…Christian…these are just several of the new sub-genres that are emerging on the romance novel scene, ensuring that fans are no longer limited to reading the same type of romances their mothers did. These new trends in romance publishing are luring established writers from other genres, including six-time author Jessica Inclán.

“My agent told me that since my previous publisher wasn’t going to publish more than one book a year, I should try writing in a different genre: romance,” says Inclán. “I hadn’t read one in about 20 years, so I spent an entire summer reading over 100 romance novels.”

“My particular favorites were the paranormal romances,” says Inclán, “ and the idea of inventing an entire magic world appealed to me.” Inclán decided to write a trilogy of paranormal romances, with the first being “WHEN YOU BELIEVE” (June 2006). These books, which she refers to as  “Harry Potter for adults - with sex,” were also inspired by the theory of quantum physics.

“I researched quantum physics, in order to understand how my magical characters could travel through space and matter,” says Inclán. “I also researched the history of magic and witch hunts, as well as French language and culture, which are all parts of my magic characters’ backgrounds.” Inclán used this information to create a universe where members of an ancient and magical group, Les Croyant des Trois, are sworn to protect the earth from the dark forces constantly at work.
